2007 - 2008 GPHA Squirt B Champions!!!!!!
In a defensive battle, the Bruins played the Hawks to a 0-0 tie in regulation of the final game of the season. Despite the low score, the Bruins kept the play in their zone most of the game. Strong goaltending by Jacob kept the Hawks in the game. Several minutes into the first sudden death overtime, Mitchell raced down the right side and fired a bullet at the net that rang off the cross bar but the Bruins would not be denied. On a rare power play opportunity, the Bruins kept attacking until victory came. Nick was taken to the ice but made a great effort to pass to a wide open Drew for the game winner.
JD was stellar in goal recording a shutout in both the Adray under 500 championship game and the GPHA squirt championship. This was truly a team effort with strong contributions by every Bruin. Our defensive corps of Elise, August, AJ, and Jared kept the pressure in the offensive zone and fended off would be rushes. Despite the low score, the offense generated several scoring chances. Abby, Drew, Nick, Mitchell, Stephen, and Tom worked as a team. They won the races to the puck and were rewarded with their efforts by bringing home the president's cup. Marko helped us reach the finals but was unable to share in the spoils of victory.
This victory was especially sweet because of the way the Bruins reached the final game. After losing 2 close games to the Hawks in the round robin, we were put in the situation of having to win almost every point in the last 3 games in order to qualify. The Bruins rose to the call and earned 14.5 out of 15 points in the last 3 games dominating in every facet to get the chance to earn retribution against the Hawks.
