Injury Education - Concussions
The following information was provided to GPHA by a concerned parent - Mickey Shield.
Thank you!

The board and coaches are concerned first and foremost with the health of our althletes.   The GPHA board is working to establish a written policy regarding concussions.   In the mean time, here is some important information on this serious issue.   It will be important for coaches AND parents to adhere to the motto, "WHEN IN DOUBT, SIT THEM OUT!"

1.  CDC Educational Video:  Heads Up Concussion in High School Sports (11 minutes)
This is a video about a high school football player who suffered long term brain damage after playing with a concussion and getting hit a second time.  It makes a clear and compelling case for importance of treating concussion symptoms seriously and for encouraging athletes to report, rather than hide, their concussion symptoms.
